ASCRS Main Stage


The ASCRS Annual Meeting will begin Friday, May 5, at 3:45 p.m. with recognitions on the Main Stage and a reception for attendees. This Main Stage event includes:
* An interview with the Incoming and Outgoing Presidents, Elizabeth Yeu, MD, and Douglas Rhee, MD
* Presentation of the ASCRS Educator Award: Emmett Carpel, MD
* An update from the ASCRS Foundation and presentation of the Chang-Crandall Humanitarian Award: Helena Ndume, MD
* The ASCRS Ophthalmology Hall of Fame Ceremony
* A Reception with hors d'oeuvres and drinks

Events on the Main Stage Saturday include the ASCRS Cornelius Binkhorst, MD, Lecture and Medal, which will be delivered by Eric Donnenfeld, MD. This session, which runs from 10:00–11:30 a.m., will also include an update from EyeSustain and keynote speaker Dan Lerner—a positive psychologist and instructor of NYU’s ‘The Science of Happiness.’
Also appearing on the Main Stage is the "X-Rounds: Refractive Surgery to the Max" symposium from 3:30–5:00 p.m.

Richard L. Lindstrom, MD, Lecture and Medal will be presented on the Main Stage Sunday by Marlene Moster, MD, during the Lindstrom Symposium, which features presentations in the different areas of anterior segment surgery—cornea, refractive, cataract, and glaucoma. This session, which runs from 10:00–11:30 a.m., will also include Keynote speaker Shaw DuBravac, an economist and futurist,
Also appearing on the Main Stage the “TOPGUN: Phaco Mavericks” symposium from 1:30–3:00 p.m. and the 41st Annual Film Festival Ceremony and Reception from 5:15–7:00 p.m..

Monday on the Main Stage, from 8:00–9:30 a.m., will feature the ASCRS Innovators Session and the Charles D. Kelman, MD, Innovator's Lecture and Medal. William Link, PhD, will deliver the Innovator’s Lecture.
Later in the day, The Best of ASCRS will wrap up the meeting on the Main Stage with the presentation of a selection of the Best Papers of Session winners and discussion of them among a panel.
