A thermodynamic adjustable IOL is shown. With the IOL in the bag, heating a nitonol actuator with argon laser the mechanism moves the IOL in controlled steps of 1-degree and/or 0.25 Diopter steps. This allows for postoperative refractive adjustment in an office-based procedure. The mechanism is demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo. Adjustment can be done as often as needed and at any time point.
