Course Description
Instructors will present cases demonstrating indications and techniques for IOL exchange. Specifically, malfunctioning and malpositioned IOL management will be discussed. Fixation techniques such as capsule bag, iris suture, scleral suture and intrascleral haptic fixation will be detailed. Participants will be able to understand pre, peri and post-operative surveillance necessary to achieve safe patient outcomes.
Course Faculty
Nicole R. Fram, MD
Dr. Nicole Fram is a board-certified ophthalmologist with an expertise in refractive and complex cataract surgery, anterior segment reconstruction, and corneal transplantation. She is the managing partner at Advanced Vision Care in Los Angeles, CA and the Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the Stein Eye Institute, UCLA and serves as an attending surgeon at the West Los Angeles Veteran’s Hospital.
Brandon D. Ayres, MD
Dr. Brandon Ayres has been part of the Cornea Service at Wills Eye Hospital since 2005. He is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in all forms of corneal transplantation including full thickness corneal transplants, Descemets’ stripping endothelial keratoplasty, deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty, and keratoprosthesis. Dr. Ayres treats all forms of infectious diseases of the eye and ocular surface disease.
ZAINA AL-MOHTASEB, MD
Zaina Al-Mohtaseb, M.D. is an ophthalmologist specializing in cornea, external disease, cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Al-Mohtaseb earned her medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine. 
Thomas A. Oetting, MD
Thomas A. Oetting, MS, MD is the Ophthalmology Residency Program Director, Rodolfo N. Perez Jr, MD, and Margaret Perez Professor in Ophthalmology Education, and Deputy Director, VA Medical Center Surgical Service, Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa Health Care.
Sadeer B. Hannush, MD
Dr. Hannush is Attending Surgeon on the Cornea Service at Wills Eye Hospital and Professor of Ophthalmology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
